Tips for trade fair marketing

y actively marketing and communicating with your key customer groups, you will ensure that the right customers come to the fair and that you achieve your participation targets. Remember to let your customers know about your participation well in advance.  

Invite current and potential customers to the fair. Communicate your participation widely and in a multichannel way through the communication channels where your customers are most accessible. These include your own newsletters, social media channels, website and customer magazines. A personal invitation is an effective way to reach your customers. We recommend sending personalised invitations to your important customers, for example via email or social media.

Timetable for your marketing

Well in advance, at least 2 months before the event | “We’ll be there”  

Tell your customers about your participation through your company’s communication channels. You can also create an event page on your own website, giving details of your participation in the fair. 

1 month before the event | “Activate your customer”  

Activate your customers with effective communication before the event. Remind them to register for the event. You can also ask your customers what they expect to get out of the fair. This will provide you with valuable information to help you prepare for the fair.  

If you are organising your own customer event at the fair, now is a good time to invite your customers to attend. 

2 weeks before the event | “See you soon at the fair!”  

Remind your customers where your stand is located (hall and stand number). Encourage customers to book a time with you for a more detailed consultation. The Brella app will help.

If you are organising your own customer event in the fair, this is a good time to ask for confirmation of participation. 

1 week before the event | “See you at the fair!”  

Get your customers excited about why they must attend the fair; what new products you will be showing, who you will be meeting at your stand and whether you will be giving a speech as a part of the event program. Send time and place details so that your customers can be sure to find the right time and place to meet you. Remind them to register for the event. 

During the trade fair week | “Welcome to our stand!”  

Remind your customers once again about the event by welcoming them to your stand.

Prepare the staff who will be working at your stand. Encourage pro-activity and remind them to be present; you are there for the customers. 

Make sure you have consistent messages; an elevator pitch about your company, new products and services, and other products and services your company wants to bring to the fair.
