Are you still driving in the dark with low beam and no navigator?
Blog post 28.08.2024
One of the most burning issues for today’s machine shops is the lack of situational awareness: the overall status of the production is scattered to different data systems or even pieces of paper. Machine statuses and progress of production orders are usually not visible from a single source. The outcome is lots of inefficiencies and a kind of a trap: without timely information it’s very hard to react on time, let alone improve the production key metrics like OEE. It is like driving in the dark with poor lights and missing navigation; that is no fun and certainly not fast either.
Fastems’ answer to this challenge is the development of Factory Cockpit: a production analytics tool that connects machinery and data systems into one, offering a constantly updating view to production, including the progress of orders.
With Factory Cockpit, decision-making is more timely and data-based, rather than a guess. Factory Cockpit supports analysis to find bottlenecks and root causes, improving production key metrics like OEE, scrap rate and delivery reliability.
Tasowheel, a Finnish CNC contract manufacturer, has gained many benefits with Factory Cockpit. As a pilot customer, they started about a year ago and so far have experienced:
- Higher commitment and motivation in the shopfloor due to clear target vs actual visualization of production
- Faster identification and response to production problems
- More synchronized production planning and execution are
- Easier capacity planning
Factory Cockpit retrieves Tasowheel’s production data from the company’s existing production planning and machine monitoring systems. This data is stored in the cloud and serves as a basis for data visualizations and calculating manufacturing metrics such as OEE and utilization rate.
The CEO of Tasowheel, Jarmo Kuikka, and CTO of Fastems, Topi Judén are hosting a keynote in Alihankinta 2024 to discuss the pilot period and its results. Join us on Tuesday 1.10. at 13:30 on HEAT Stage. For more info see, https://www.alihankinta.fi/fi/program/fastems-johdatko-tilannetiedolla-vai-ruutupaperilla/.
